1.2V Battery Information
A 1.2V battery is a battery that has the smallest voltage. It is usually made of nickel-cadmium (NiCD) or nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) chemistry. It is usually used for smaller household electronics such as the electric shaver. NiMH battery doubles the NiCD battery capacity.
1.2V batteries are rechargeable and have longer shelf life than other batteries. 1.2V NiMH battery is also known as the “household type” as it is commonly used in most household devices. However, there are certain devices that require 1.2V NiCD rechargeable batteries only.

The main difference lies in usage and environmental issues. Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries are eco-friendly and used in digital cameras, electric shaver, and other household items. In some cases, these batteries are not interchangeable. For instance, NiMH batteries have “high capacity” and low self-discharge, making it very ideal for use in digital cameras.
